New Aroma downtown

Written by: Alexandra Long

Akron’s got the perfect place to grab a quick cup of coffee or tea, or to just relax and enjoy the soothing atmosphere and tasty drinks.

Aroma Coffee and Tea, located on Brown Street, right behind InfoCision Stadium, reopened in February.

The atmosphere is very hip and modern. There are multiple seating areas and calming music plays over the speakers. The music and the plush seating are amplified by the lighting, which creates an overall soothing mood.

Aroma Coffee and Tea is currently undergoing renovations in order to make room for a new wine and liquor section, which is expected to be finished in roughly a month.

The menu of the shop varies from hot drinks like specialty coffees, tea and hot chocolate, to cold drinks like smoothies and iced mochas and baked goods such as muffins and scones. The shop also has an array of tea flavors, which is a wonderful alternative if one does not enjoy coffee.

Angela, an employee of Aroma Coffee and Tea, commented on possible additions to the menu.

“The owners are Lebanese,” she said, “So look forward to servings of hummus and other sorts of Lebanese appetizers.”

The food and drinks are reasonably priced; everything on the menu is under five dollars. Cups of tea and coffee are one to two dollars, while specialty drinks tend to be around four dollars.

I ordered a hot tea with a cinnamon muffin when I last visited Aroma Coffee and Tea. The hot tea had an earthy taste to it, and with some sugar, it was very enjoyable. The cinnamon muffin was incredibly filling and delicious, and it was a great accompaniment to the hot tea.

Jake Sparrow, a customer at Aroma Coffee and Tea, commented on the atmosphere, saying that it was very relaxed.

“It was comfortable and enjoyable. I could easily do schoolwork there for hours,” Sparrow said.

Aroma Coffee and Tea is a great place to visit if you want to grab a quick cup of coffee and a snack while you’re on the go, or a place where you and your friends can unwind after a long day. It is located on 396 Brown Street, and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
