Zippy is at it again!

Akron’s favorite marsupial is back to claim her thrown as the Capital One Mascot of the Year.

The Capital One Mascot of the Year Award is where 16 mascots across the nation compete with each other during the regular and post season of the football season. In the end, the winner will be recognized during halftime at the Capital One Bowl game held on January 1st. In addition to being honored, the mascot who wins also gets $20,000 to their mascot program.

Competing is easy, every week there is a matchup and supports all students and supporters of Zippy have to do is vote online to either GoZips.com/VoteForZippy or CapitalOneMascots.com. Voters are allowed up to 50 votes per day and fans are also allowed to participate in challenges. These challenges are pictures or videos of you and friends showing school pride or pictures and videos of you with your mascot, along with the hashtag #CAPITALONEZIPPY in order for it to be submitted and reviewed to earn points for Zippy.

This is Zippy’s second time being apart of the Capital One Mascot Challenge and in her first campaign back in 2007 she won the challenge convincingly being the only mascot to never lose throughout the regular and post season tournament.
