On Sunday, Sept. 14, Zippy lost her first matchup in the Capital One Mascot Challenge.

Zippy had an undefeated record stretching back to when she first competed back in 2007.

Joe Bruin, the mascot from UCLA, won the matchup by two percent. The matchup truly came down to the wire as supporters from both schools weren’t willing to give up their undefeated marks for this year’s challenge.

Within minutes of the matchup ending, the percentages were close. Zippy having a 52 percent to 48 percent lead. Soon after, a rush of UCLA fans snatched the lead away from The University of Akron’s Zippy leaving UCLA’s Bruin as the victor in this week’s matchup.

Zippy, now 2-1, will try to rebound this week, from her defeat as she goes up against Buster Bronco from Boise State University.
