November Akron Art Walk

By Ellen Papp, Arts & Life Writer

The Akron Art Walk created an artistic atmosphere and on Nov. 1, Downtown Akron transformed into a creative frenzy.

The first Saturday of every month, Downtown Akron hosts a free Akron Art Walk in a variety of locations throughout the city of Akron.

Participating artists present a diverse selection of galleries featuring unique art and collectibles available for purchase in addition to art openings, gallery shows, demonstrations and interactive art.

Art featured in this past Art Walk included hand-blown glass, textiles, various jewelry, ceramic pieces and much more.

Over 20 galleries display art for this event that ranges from the Highland Square area to Firestone Park and downtown.

A free trolley service is provided by the city of Akron to help make traveling to and around the event easier.

Some shops near The University of Akron affiliated with the Akron Art Walk are Akron Glass Works, Hazel Tree Interiors and Rubber City Clothing.

“What I like about the Akron Art Walk is the focus on art it brings to Akron,” said Lisa Kane, local stained glass artist at Akron Glass Works.

The Akron Art Walk is an exciting event that helps broaden the awareness of local art. The next Akron Art Walk is taking place on Dec. 6, and will provide new art at
