The University of Akron women’s tennis team played Ball State on Sunday, April 5, losing by a close 4-3.

Akron now sits in eighth in the MAC standings with an overall record of 9-11 and a 1-5 conference record. Ball State (11-4, 1-2) stands one spot higher than the Zips in seventh place.

“Losing three conference matches by 4-3 scores is tough to get past mentally, but the physical issues are what we are having to deal with most. Losing Madison (Cohen) on Friday to a shoulder injury, and today, Sophia (Geier) passing out on court and being unable to continue was a difficult blow to overcome. We have to have others step up if we want to become a better overall team,” UA’s tennis head coach, Brandon Padgett said to the media after the loss.

The Zips will be back in action on Saturday, April 11 as they travel to Buffalo for a 1 p.m. match.
