During the last few weeks of the summer I was on a date night with my boyfriend. As we were walking down High Street near Nightlight Cinema, I noticed a quirky ice cream sign on the side of a brick building. The location of this place is somewhat odd, but you definitely don’t want to miss it.
We opened the door with the “Chill” sign and looked down a long staircase that had been painted white then splattered with vibrantly-colored paint. Keep going down the stairs and through the hallway till you see a door that reads “Ice Cream.” That’s your door.
They have flavors that you’ve never even dreamed of tasting. When I went, I was feeling uncharacteristically bold and tried the bacon butterscotch ice cream. It had bits of bacon mixed throughout with some crunchy bits on top. Normally, I’d choose the richest chocolate ice cream on the menu, so choosing something so different was a leap for me. I also tried the zucchini bread flavor, which I would recommend over any ice cream with little bits of ham in it. Unless that’s your thing, in which case go for it. They also have a variety of milkshakes and sundaes.
Chill Artisan Ice Cream also partners with local businesses to create wild flavors. When I was there, Thirsty Dog Brewery was sponsoring a flavor called Thirsty Dog Siberian Night Imperial Stout and Peanut Butter. Stop in before the cool weather hits — not that I’d judge you for eating ice cream in the winter, because ice cream is always a good idea.
