Zips take on Halloweekend at Ceder Point

On Saturday, Oct. 15,  the Zips Programming Network (ZPN) put on a special event for University of Akron students: a free bus trip to the Ohio amusement park Cedar Point with free admission to all the activities and rides.

Each semester, ZPN offers three similar bus trips to students. This outing was the second of this semester’s series — and it was a big hit with the 54 students who attended.

“ZPN gave me the opportunity to spend a great day with my friends!” UA student Rachel Barendt said.

The event coordinator Megan Laws said that the day gave students a break from the stress of midterms. “Students who went on the trip seemed to really have a blast!”

Cedar Point, located in Sandusky, OH, recently started its annual “Halloweekend.” The park was fully decorated, concerts were held throughout the day, and there were acrobatic performances as well as a Halloween parade!

The bus trip started at 9:00 a.m. and lasted until midnight.

After 8:00 p.m., students made their way through haunted houses, mazes, and scare zones, including spooky places like Blood on the Bayou, Cornstalkers, Cut Throat Cove, Fear-y-Tales Maniacal Mechanical Screamworks and Tombstone Terror-Tory.

ZPN is holding its next bus trip on Nov. 5. Students will be able to travel to Cleveland’s Playhouse Square for dinner and to see the Broadway show “Finding Neverland, The Story of How Peter Became Peter Pan.”

To reserve your seat for the next ZPN bus trip, bring a $5 cash deposit to the Information Desk in the Student Union starting on Monday, Oct. 24. This deposit will be returned to students the day of the trip.
