New fads in spring fashion

“After watching episode after episode of Sex and the City, I feel very Carrie Bradshaw-ish while typing this column. Not in the sense that I’m going to type up a provocative sex column, because I’m not sure that the U of A or my internet-smart grandma is ready for that, but because their crazy and lavish clothes got me awfully excited for spring and summer fashions.”

DRESSES

Story continues below advertisement

Long, ankle-length hippie-styled dresses with floral patterns and vibrant colors can be seen on page after page of high fashion magazines and catalogs and are great for the beach or a summer barbeque.

Short, cocktail length dresses with water-colored designs are also great for spring and can double as a dress for a dinner party or wedding.

TOPS

Ladies-Ruffles and flounces give personality and texture to the feminine designs that look great in every shade of pink, gold-yellow and blue.

Wanna dress down?

Find your favorite band online and order a T-shirt from them.

You’ll be supporting their music and get a cute tee that shows your music likes to the public in turn.

Guys- I know I still need to remind you all to get rid of those pathetic Affliction and Ed Hardy shirts, cause I’m sure they’ll pop up all over campus come the warm weather.

I suggest replacing them with the band t-shirt idea mentioned above.

But wearing a black and white button-up with bright infused colors will look great when going out or just dressing up for the hell of it.

COLORS

Pale pinks and fluorescent acid hues showed up in catalogs and Neiman Marcus spring trend emails for this spring.

But don’t wear this fun, blast-from-the-past look too much.

Stick to one bright color and pair it up with a solid one, such as black.
