Zips Softball

The University of Akron Zips softball team is off to a 5-6 start in the season. The Lady Zips are currently undefeated at home, sitting at 3-0, while being 2-6 in away games. The Zips had to cancel a game against Syracuse ealier this season due to the weather.

Rachel Ratcliffe currently leads the Zips with 14 RBIs and four home runs. Freshman Erin Seller currently leads the Zips in pitching, starting nine games.

Zips Track and Field

Fourteen members of the Zips Track and Field team competed in a last-chance meet Saturday afternoon, which was held and at several different locations throughout the country.

Brittany Funk and Gabriel Genovesi competed and passed the competitions in order to compete in the NCAA indoor championships. Funk and Genovesi join team-mates Shawn Barber and Alexis Cooks, who previously qualified in other competitions.

Zips Tennis

The Zips tennis team finished off the month of February with a loss to Columbia last Sunday.

The team went 6-3 for the month of February, to advance their overall record to 7-7 on the season. Their next match is on Thursday, when they will take on Youngstown State University at home.

Zips Soccer

The spring schedule for soccer exhibition games has been announced.

Akron will face Kentucky and Xavier in at home.
