This weekend marks the second annual UA on Display event, hosted and sponsored by The University of Akron. Both prospective and current students, as well as UA alumni, are invited to the Stile Athletics Field House Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1:45 p.m.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to speak with representatives of their college of interest, meet and network with University of Akron alumni, and tour the campus.

Special guests who will be joining faculty and staff from the entire campus community include President Luis Proenza, Vice President for Student Success Jim Tressel, Zippy and the UA Marching Band.

Tressel with Students

Jim Tressel started UA on Display in 2012, as part of The Akron Experience initiative.

“UA on Display is our opportunity to display our excellence from across the entire university in a fun atmosphere. Visiting students, parents, current students, staff and alumni can join in the day full of education and excitement,” said Tressel.

Colleges “on display” include: The College of Engineering, College of Health Professions, College of Business Administration, College of Arts and Sciences, and Summit College. Additional campus locations will also be in attendance, including Wayne College, Medina County University Center, Midpoint Campus Center, UA Lakewood and the Holmes County Higher Education Center.

Starting at 2:15 p.m. there will be an information session with admissions in the Student Union Theatre. Students will join representatives from the Admissions Office and learn more about academics, campus life and opportunities for real-world experience.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., students will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from academic and student services areas. In addition, they can speak with UA alumni to hear their story and the steps they took to succeed at UA. Prospective and current students can also experience hands-on displays and simulations as well as activities representing each degree granting college at UA and speak with many of UA’s student clubs and organizations.

During the Interactive Fair, tours of campus and Spicer Residence Hall will be offered. Tours will depart every 10 minutes starting at 4 p.m. with the final campus tour departing at 5:15 p.m.

Toward the end of the event, the UA Marching Band will march through the Stile Athletics Field House on their way to InfoCision Stadium. All attending participants will have the opportunity to watch the UA football team warm up in the Field House before their clash with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns at 6 p.m. in InfoCision Stadium. Prospective students will be offered three free tickets and one concessions voucher.
