The best songs to rock and roll to during road trips

“Snacks, flip flops, sweat pants and energy drinks are all things that are vital when it comes to road tripping. While I agree whole-heartedly that they are key essentials to making a road trip a true, epic road trip, I feel that the one thing that truly defines the success of the road trip is the music.”

Snacks, flip flops, sweat pants and energy drinks are all things that are vital when it comes to road tripping.

While I agree whole-heartedly that they are key essentials to making a road trip a true, epic road trip, I feel that the one thing that truly defines the success of the road trip is the music.

There are certain songs that, when heard, make me go into the land of open roads and highway signs.

There are a select few songs that seem to end up on almost everyone’s playlists/mixed cds and if they aren’t on there, I suggest you add them.

The Eagles – Hotel California

Maybe the fact that my dad brainwashed me with The Eagles during family vacations is the reason I consider this song a great hit while cruising from lane to lane, but I can’t help but love it. This old school tune seems to always bring positive energy to the car when cabin fever starts to set in.

Journey- Don’t Stop Believing

Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing is the one song that everyone knows, whether you like it or not. It is THE American song that is played/sung nightly by bars, weekly on karaoke nights and annually on road trips. This song, when sung by groups of people, and even on your own has been known to ignite an instantaneous good time and guarantees fun.

Don Henley – Boys of Summer

Quite possibly this song is more preferable for the summertime, but as Ohioans we can at least pretend we are on a destination that will allow us to bask in the sun. The Boys of Summer is a song that encourages leaning your seat back as far as it will go and putting your feet out the window while creating a breathtaking wind tunnel experience.

Nelly – Country Grammar

While I realize this song is completely random considering the above, we all know that Country Grammar is one song that may have left it’s true prime years ago, but continues to live on in each and every heart for those who grew up during the ’90s. I feel that the fact that 80 percent of the people who know this song from the past can still rap the song verbatim speaks volumes. This truly amazing song is great when accompanied by a small, gas efficient car and a group of spunky, fun people.
