The Phi Kappa Tau house is full of ghosts, ghouls, demons and other hellish creatures, at least for this weekend.

The brothers of Phi Kappa Tau will be turning their house into a haunted house attraction, Phi Kappa Tau’s House of Hell. The House of Hell will be open from 7 p.m. until 11p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

This is the first year that Phi Kappa Tau has done a haunted house.

The Phi Kappa Tau chapter at Mount Union has done a haunted house in the past. That is where the Akron Chapter got the idea for its haunted house.

I hope we have a nice turnout. We have a fan page on Facebook and have posted flyers in the dorms, Brent Kaiser, philanthropy chairman of the fraternity said.

The men of Phi Kappa Tau have spent the past week turning two large rooms on the first floor of their house, into a labyrinth of hell and horror winding through the corridors of the fraternity house with fraternity members along the way. It will end with participants exiting through one of the house windows.

Admission to the house is $5 or $4 with a canned good.

All proceeds from the haunted house will be used to support their national philanthropy organization, the Association of the Hole in the Wall Camps.

The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps is an organization that runs camps across the country for children with serious and life-threatening medical conditions. Paul Newman founded the association two decades ago with the intent that no child should have to sacrifice their childhood because of an illness.

Originally Phi Kappa Tau’s House of Hell was going to run two weekends, but is now only this Thursday and Friday.

Along with this event, Phi Kappa Tau also hosts other philanthropic events such as its Volleyball Tournament and Bowl-a-thon.

Last semester the fraternity had an Ultimate Trivia Challenge to raise money.

In the fall the fraternity only hosts its Bowl-A-Thon at Akron Lanes and is usually successful.

People like haunted houses and we figured that it was an easy way to raise money and figured that we could do a pretty good job, Zach Wade, a Phi Kappa Tau member, said.

Test your fears and tears at Phi Kappa Tau’s House of Hell and support a good cause in the process.
