Bierce Library is continuing the tradition of extending its hours in order to help students prepare for the week of finals providing students with coffee, and snacks and other events to help students prepare for their week of tests.

The library has fluctuated their hours of operation to accommodate students needs with finals coming. Bierce will be open on Monday, Dec. 1 through Thursday, Dec. 4 until 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 until midnight, and Sunday Dec. 7 until 1 a.m.

“University Libraries supports student success in many ways and pre-finals activities are an opportunity for us to offer students a little break from the stress of preparing for final exams,” Beate Gersch, Outreach Librarian at Bierce, said. “In essence, students can get everything they need to study: academic support, energy kicks and a little relaxation.”

Bierce and the Science and Technology Library provide students  with free coffee beginning at 8 p.m. all night Monday through Thursday. Krispy Kreme doughnuts are offered in the morning at Bierce at 8 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday night, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are available starting at 8 p.m.

“As a quiet place to go and study or finish a paper for class, I will be using the library at least three days during that week,” said junior history major Dahren Phillips-Bey as he prepares for finals.

Summa Health System’s WAGtime program is also back to visit the library. Due to the success of last year’s trip to the library, the dogs are making a return to spend time with students to relieve stress before tests begin. This week, therapy dogs are waiting for students to play with and pet on Monday, Dec. 1 and Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 3 beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m.
