The Student Union is transforming into the Study Union from Sunday, Dec. 7 through Wednesday, Dec. 10. The Union will be open between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. with extra study rooms, specials at the restaurants located in the Union and events geared toward making study breaks fun.

In addition to special pricing, the eateries will also have extended hours.

Starbucks will be open until 11 p.m. and will be selling a tall regular coffee for just $1 from 8 p.m. until close.

After Starbuck closes, the Union will have free coffee, beverages and snacks including bagels from Einstein’s, other breakfast foods, and pizza, from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. The student staff will be serving around the Union so students can focus on studying. Subway will also remain open until 1 a.m.

In addition to these special offers and extended hours, the Game Room will be open until 12 a.m. for those who need a break from studying. If the library is full, extra study rooms will also be available until 2 a.m.

The Study Union also features additional special offers and activities each day. On Sunday, free sweet rolls and fruit will be provided by the Union Market.

Cram Jam from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8 in the Grand Ballroom is an event where each hour consists of 45 minutes of studying and then 15 minutes of free food, games and prizes. Free sugar cookies will be provided by Off-Campus Student Services at the Commuter Lounge from 10 p.m. until 12 a.m. Zee’s Natural will also be open until 1 a.m. and have a special for a $2 small Jamaican Jammer or Kiwi Strawberry smoothie.

On Tuesday, Dec. 9, Auntie Anne’s will have extended hours until 11 p.m. and a free 20 oz. lemonade or fountain drink will also be offered with any pretzel purchase.

Ohio Burger is open until 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, and is offering a great deal which includes a free lemonade with any burger purchase.

Jennifer Venuto, manager of operations at the Student Union, believes Study Union will make studying easier because it provides an alternative space for students other than home, noisy residence halls and apartments or the library.

Finals begin Monday, Dec. 8 and Study Union hopes to create a quiet and safe study environment.
