Free food and prizes at Boo at the Roo

The leaves are changing and with that change comes a whole new array of events at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.

After the success of the inaugural Boo at the Roo last year, this year’s event, taking place at 9:09 p.m. on Oct. 30, looks to exceed the first by leaps and bounds.

Last year we had over 600 students come to Boo and the word is out about E.J. this year with all the concerts and shows we are doing.

This year is going to be a huge success and we are really looking forward to having the students come and enjoy a great party, said Beth Fazio Lynch, Promotions Coordinator for E.J. Thomas.

E.J. Thomas will be transformed into a Halloween oriented party for the entire student body to enjoy.

Last year featured a live band, but this year will feature a live DJ.

DJ Sparky B and the East Coast Rockers will be turning the stage at E.J. into dance party for students to enjoy.

Along with DJ Sparky B, students will be able to enjoy free tarot card readings, free food and a cash bar.

The party is not the only thing students can participate in.

There will also be a pumpkin decorating contest.

The contest is open to all student organizations on campus and to individual students as well.

Free pumpkins are available to students at the E.J. Thomas loading dock on Oct. 23 from 12-2 p.m.

The winning pumpkin will be chosen during the celebration.

Grand prize for the contest is 25 tickets to the concert for One Republic at E.J. on Dec. 1.

I had a blast at Boo last year and can’t wait to see all the changes that have been made for this year, Dee Shilling, senior said.

Besides the cash bar, free food and pumpkin decorating contest, there will be a costume contest.

A panel of seven judges will choose 10 finalists from all the contestants.

The three top prizes include spring break tickets for best overall costume an iPod nano for the people’s choice and a digital camera for the most original costume.

Tickets for students are selling for $5 and can be picked up at the E.J. Thomas ticket office.

There is a limit of two tickets per student ID.
