Zips softball (13-17) slips further down the standings by losing two games in their weekend action to the visiting Michigan team.

The UA softball team began with a Friday match against Eastern Michigan on the Zip’s home field and lost the game to the visiting Eastern Michigan team by a score of 4-3. As far as hitting, the Zips had six hits in the game, two of which came from Chelsea Wildey who went 100 percent from the base. She scored a run in the sixth inning along with Sara Pearson and Taryn Allmon.

Akron’s last two games for the weekend pinned them against the Chippewas of Central Michigan where they split the series 1-1.

The first game was won for the Chippewas by a score of 1-0. Neither team had  a strong offense in the game as Central Michigan had one hit and Akron had three.

The final game held on Sunday, April 5 was won by Akron, ending 4-3 over the visiting Central Michigan team. This game had more offense as CMU had seven hits while Akron had four. Wildey and Allmon both played well in the game with Wildey hitting 2-3 from the base and scoring a run, while Allmon hit the same 2-3 but had two runs in the game.

Erin Seiler pitched the whole weekend and now holds a record of 13-11 for the season.  During the games, she had 25 strikeouts, including a 14 strikeout performance against Eastern Michigan Friday alone. She also allowed 17 hits, eight of which went for a score and two home runs.

Next up for the Zips will be an out of conference doubleheader at Niagara before returning to MAC schedule as they play rival Kent State in another doubleheader in Kent on Friday, April 10.
