Armed with a police escort and viewed by traveling students, the 42nd Ohio Volunteer Battalion proudly ran in step and with their unit flag raised proudly in the front of their formation.  Local University students witnessed as Cadets showing their team spirit by singing; Army cadences ran through the entire campus with great morale.

The celebration continued when the UA ROTC finally reopened their doors at Shrank Hall South to honored guests from The University of Akron faculty and staff for their efforts in supporting ROTC during their renovation process, which ran from the month of December to March.

This open house celebration, which began at 9 a.m., started with a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the renovation of the entire department.  This department makeover included new flooring, ceiling, freshly painted walls, a lounge area and new up-to-date office furniture and supplies to help give cadets a comfortable environment where they can study and socialize.

After the open house ceremony, the battalion ended their celebration with a formal dance called Military Ball, which was located at the Sheraton Hotel in Cuyahoga Falls. A social hour event began at 6 p.m., followed by a formal dinner.  All cadets were invited to dine, bring their respected dates and dance the night away.
