Connections to the career world

UA will host its annual fall Career Fair Week in the Student Union from October 6 to 8.

All students and alumni are invited to attend the fair for free and no pre-registration is necessary. The Career Fair Week is a great opportunity for students to showcase their talents and strengths to potential employers.

Students need to dress professionally as well as bring their resume.

UA Career Center Director Laura Carey said, “It is the employer’s first impression. So business dress is required.”

The Career Fair Week will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the Science, Technology and Engineering Career Fair. Visit ASEC 203 by Friday, Oct. 2 to pre-register.

The Internship and Career Fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some of the events include researching the employers, learning about their available opportunities, having your headshot taken for a job search, and four workshops dedicated to marketing yourself at a career fair. Storage for coats and bags will be provided.

October 8 will be the Graduate School Fair from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There will also be the Government, Non-profit, and Law Enforcement Fair from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. No pre-registration is needed for either.

Anyone in need of preparation can attend the Student Union room 335 workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m., where they will learn how to market themselves.

The UA Career Center located in the Union room 211 also holds resume writing, mock interviews, and internship and job search workshops weekly.
