After performing a rocking set at the Chevelle and Finger Eleven Concert at E. J. Thomas, God or Julie was kind enough to speak with the Buchtelite.
God or Julie is a newer band coming out of New York City.
The band consists of lead singer and guitar player J.P. Johnson, guitar player Matt Hogan, lead bass player Adam Johnson, and drummer Aaron Stern.

Q: How long have you guys been a band?

A: We’ve been together for about three and a half years. My brother (Adam Johnson) and I were always really big into music as kids growing up in Denver. We finally moved out to New York and there we met Matt and Erin. After that, we just started playing together and formed the band.

Q: Why the name God or Julie?

A: We chose that name because it’s a very interesting name that people will take notice of. We feel the name symbolizes our music, because both are open to many different interpretations.

Q: How long have you guys been on tour with Chevelle and Finger Eleven?

A: It’s been about a month and a half: we started on March 1st and will end in April.

Q: How is it touring with Chevelle and Finger Eleven?

A: It’s great. We’re having a blast hanging out with people that love music just as much as we do. We meet great people every night and get to play music and get paid for it – doesn’t get much better than that.

Q: What did you guys think of the Akron crowd tonight?

A: They were a great crowd, very high energy; overall we had a great time playing for them. This was our first time in Akron but it definitely won’t be our last.

Q: Are you guys playing at any other college campuses on this tour?

A: We were originally going to play at one or two other schools but since the tour got postponed, Akron was the only college that was able to reschedule.

Q: What were you guys doing before this tour?

A: We just finished our new album This Road Before, which will be in stores very soon and is already available on iTunes. We were also on other tours. One was with Buckcherry.

Q: How is life on the road?

A: It’s a lot of fun. We get to go new places and meet great people. We get to play music for people that love music just as much as we do. We’re all about hanging out and having a good time. You could say we’re living the dream.

Q: How can fans get to know your band better?

A: They can go to our Web site that has our MySpace link and our email addresses. The Web site is
www.godorjulie.com

Q: Any final comments you would like the readers to know?

A: That we loved playing here. The crowd was great and we’ll be back. Thanks a lot, Akron.
