The sixth annual Barry Lefkowitz 9-ball Billiards Tournament was held Saturday in the Student Union.

Students were up at what must have felt like the crack of dawn for a Saturday morning to meet for fun, camaraderie, and the chance to win $1,000. The tournament began promptly at 9 a.m.

According to Heather Spencer, coordinator for the tournament, Barry Lefkowitz made an appearance to judge the quarter, semi and final rounds of the tournament.

He donated all the pool tables for the game room, Spencer said.

The first prize, worth a scholarship of $1,000, was awarded to Frankie Crookston. Following behind were second-place winner Bryce Eshelman and third-place winner Diane Sumner. Sepencer said Sumner was the first girl to place in the competition in the new Student Union.

It was a lot of work, but it was a great turnout, Spencer said. I’m glad everyone had fun.

Over 80 students participated in the event. Each student received a free t-shirt, lunch and water bottle.
