The University of Akron men’s soccer team improved to 3-2 on the season after an important bounce back win Friday vs. Oregon State University, 2-0.

Skye Harter, a redshirt freshman from Copley, Ohio, made his very first collegiate start playing Friday. He made the most of this opportunity by netting both of the Zips’ goals in the victory.

The first of the Zips’ goals came early at the 1:40 mark of the first half as Harter put away a great pass from teammate Jonathan Lewis. The Zips didn’t take long to strike again. Harter scored his second goal of the match just 10 minutes later. The goal came from another assist from Lewis as Harter was able to head the pass and give Akron a 2-0 lead.

That 2-0 lead ended up being all the Zips needed. Sophomore Ben Lundt had three saves to keep OSU off the board. The shutout is Lundt’s third of the season.

The Zips, ranked fourth in the nation, will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday for an 8 p.m. tilt with the Golden Hurricanes.
