Karli Knezevich

Women’s Tennis

Knezevich (Austin, Texas) was perfect over the weekend in the Akron Shootout, winning all three doubles matches and all three singles matches she played. Along with partner Karalina Maksimava, Knezevich beat players from Cleveland State University, Youngstown State University, and Siena College on her way to a great start to the season.

Ben Lundt

Men’s Soccer

Goalkeeper

The Zips’ ninth-ranked soccer team enjoyed a week off between games before Tuesday’s 0-0 tie versus Virginia Commonwealth University, and Lundt was excellent. Lundt stopped all three shots he faced, but the offense couldn’t score and Lundt recorded his first career tie. The first-year starter now has a 5-3-1 record with five shutouts on the season.

Jerome Lane

Football

Wide Receiver

The Zips’ biggest receiver (6’3”, 220 lb.) had nine receptions for a game-high 134 yards with one touchdown on Saturday. Last season’s leading receiver for Akron currently leads the Mid-American Conference in catches with 29 and receiving yards with 488 through the season’s first four games.

Annabelle Hegeman

Women’s Soccer

Goalkeeper

In the Zips’ two games over the weekend, Hegeman allowed a total of just one goal while turning aside eight shots. Hegeman now sits on a 3-6-1 record with one shutout, but she has played better than her record shows. She sports a .724 save percentage and a 1.58 goals-against average, both of which are career highs.

Jojo Natson

Football

Wide Receiver

The Utah State University transfer continues to get open for quarterback Thomas Woodson. In Saturday’s 45-38 loss to Appalachian State University, Natson caught a game-high 10 passes for 87 yards with one touchdown. The addition of Natson could turn the Zips into real MAC Championship contenders.
