Dinner with the president

Students who share stories of their experience at The University of Akron with interim President Matthew Wilson will have a chance to attend a dinner at his house in November.

Wilson is asking students to send him their success stories at UA and feedback about what they want to see changed.

Wilson started the initiative on Oct. 3 in an email letter addressed to students. Stories and suggestions can be submitted until Oct. 15.

So far, undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students have sent in over 30 submissions expressing thoughts on how to improve the University and telling stories about their college experience.

Wilson will read the suggestions individually and will pass them along to their respective departments.

While many have submitted stories, Wilson will invite only 10 students to have dinner with him at his house. Selection will be based on the story itself and the amount of effort put into it. After he has narrowed down the choices, the final 10 students will be randomly selected.

Students interested in participating can send their ideas and success stories to Wilson at [email protected].

Wilson plans to hold other dinners and similar outreach events in the future.
“I absolutely love to connect with students. This is a great opportunity to get to know the students and hopefully have the students get to know me,” said Wilson. “I’m hoping that I will be doing similar ways of finding ways to get feedback from and connect with students.”
