Studio Glimpse offers glimpse into mind of faculty

The 2008 Faculty Exhibition will open this Thursday, Oct. 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Emily Davis Gallery in the Mary Schiller Myers Art School, located in Folk Hall. The exhibition, Studio Glimpse, shows what the faculty members create while working in their own personal studios. The exhibition will include a short DVD presentation of still images and video of studio visits and field work sites.

Once a year, faculty members are presented the chance to showcase their remarkable talents during the faculty exhibition. The show rotates each year from an all faculty show one year, to either an individual faculty member’s show or a small group the next year.

The exhibition will run from Oct. 23 to Nov. 22, and includes an array of pieces from the school’s 24 full-time faculty members. Studio Glimpse allows onlookers to get inside the faculty members’ creative minds as they watch them at work in the DVD presentation.

Since the school offers many talented faculty members in a diverse range of subjects, the exhibition includes an assortment of art forms. Visiting the exhibition will allow viewers to see mediums such as paintings, photography, sculptures, videos, mixed media, print making, metalsmithing and ceramics.

The exhibition is free for everyone to enjoy, and the Gallery hours are Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. For further information about Studio Glimpse or any other Exhibitions at the Emily Davis Gallery, contact Rod Bengston, the Gallery Director, at [email protected]; and be sure to venture out to Folk Hall before this inspiring display of faculty creativity and ability vanishes for good.
