“I know what you’re going to say. Did you see how amazing the Browns were Sunday? This is a playoff team now that Derrick Anderson is our quarterback! We can hang with any team in the NFL! Told you the Browns were going to be good this year! Don’t get ahead of yourself.””
I know what you’re going to say.
Did you see how amazing the Browns were Sunday? This is a playoff team now that Derrick Anderson is our quarterback! We can hang with any team in the NFL! Told you the Browns were going to be good this year!
Don’t get ahead of yourself.
Did the Browns make a drastic improvement after their first game? Yes.
Is it time to start talking playoffs? Absolutely not.
The Browns vs. Bengals game was fun to watch and the highlights were even better, but their 51-45 win said more about both teams defense than anything.
That neither team has one.
So, enjoy the victory. It was well-earned, needed and I’m glad Browns fans have something good to talk about, but don’t get ahead of yourselves, Brownies. There is a lot of work to be done if you want to get to .500 this year.
On to the best part of the game now.
Chad Johnson seems to find his way into this column every week and he deserves every bit of space he gets. When CJ said he was going to celebrate big-time in Cleveland, I never imagined he’d be jumping into the dog pound. Ocho-Cinco is the most fun athlete to watch in the NFL. He’s unpredictable, explosive and for as much trash as he talks, I can’t believe I love watching him as much as I do.
But for as good as jumping into the dog pound was, I have a problem with it. Not with Johnson, but with the fact the Browns fans were pouring their $10 beers all over him. Now, if an opposing player were to jump in the stands where I was, I’d be pulling his helmet off, or pushing him out of the stands, hoping he falls and hurts himself, not wasting my ridiculously expensive beer.
Drink the beer, and next time, get a once-in-a-lifetime souvenir NFL helmet.
For as much as I’m proud of Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins for being a former Zip, I was pretty disgusted with his actions this past weekend.
Prior to the Dolphins game with the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, Taylor saw two Cowboys fans trying to hang a banner over the edge of the field at Dolphins Stadium. He went over and twice ripped down the sign.
Show some sportsmanship, Taylor.
Opposing fans have every right that home fans do regarding what they wear, what they bring and how they support their team. Maybe if Taylor had focused a little more during pre-game warm-ups, he may have been able to get a finger on Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who made him look like a rookie quite a few times during the game with his shiftiness.
NFL, week three
Week three of the NFL season looks to be pretty bland as far as exciting match-ups go, but a few games might be pretty interesting. We’ll look at one.
San Diego at Green Bay will be a better game than most might think. The Packers are 2-0, due in part to quarterback Brett Favre’s better decision making and the defense having shut down corners in Al Harris and Charles Woodson.
LaDanian Tomlinson will have to do all the work for the Chargers if the team wants to win this game. San Diego doesn’t have enough help at receiver for quarterback Phillip Rivers outside of Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates.
O.J. Simpson was arrested again and faces 10 felony charges. How does one of the greatest running backs of all time screw up his life this bad? He is an embarrassment to the NCAA, NFL and the human race in general. I hope he gets put away for life this time.
