The event is free.

Prizes for the top three scores include Amazon gift cards and the opportunity to perform at Akron Idol during Springfest.

If they don’t want to perform, they’re welcome to come and enjoy the show, said Alex Pasini, campus engagement chair for ZPN.

Five $10 Amazon gift cards will be raffled for audience members and participants who do not place in the top three.

ZPN, one of more than 200 student organizations at UA, sponsors and organizes events to get students involved on and around campus.

The organization meets throughout the year, every Monday at 4:30 p.m. in the Student Union. There they plan regularly-scheduled events that stimulate, educate and entertain the students, faculty and staff at the University of Akron and the surrounding community, Pasini said.

Pasini, a computer information systems major, decided to join ZPN when he heard about it during Welcome Week his freshman year. He was drawn to it because it allowed him to get involved in the planning and execution of events, rather than just absentmindedly attending them.

He speaks highly of ZPN and encourages others to join.

It really makes the college experience more enjoyable, he said. Especially because you can meet many different people and form friendships.

There are seven committees within ZPN: Adult & Family Connections, Campus Engagement, Diversity Programs, Greek Events, First Year Involvement, Community Outreachand Traditional Events.

Students interested in joining can attend one of the weekly associate meetings in Student Union room 312.
