The annual Food for Fines is underway again.

Food for Fines is a necessary fund- raiser that allows University of Akron students to bring nonperishable food items in to three locations in exchange for paying off late library book and computer fines.

For every two items that you bring in, $1 will go to your late fines. Also, there is no limit to the amount of items that are allowed.

Which is great.

This whole concept is actually quite brilliant.

This allows students to not only help themselves by paying off fines, but it also helps the Akron-Canton food banks with their Harvest for Hunger Campaign.

We think there should be more opportunities like this.

It seems like there are always a fine that we need to pay, and this is a great way to do it.

There should also be a Food for Fines that involves campus parking tickets.

Parking tickets are always a pain, and if there was a better way to pay them, that would be good.

If we knew that we were helping others with our carelessness, it might not be as painful to part with our money.

Overall, we are just proud that UA does something like this, and we hope, in the future, they look into other ways to help incorporate our fines into something beneficial for others.
