Stevo's Ego

“Who doesn’t love battle of the bands? Me. Yes, I volunteered to judge, but to be honest I am pretty sure the scoring was unfair. Now you might be saying to yourself but you were a judge, how could that be possible? First, let me get the facts straight.”

Who doesn’t love battle of the bands? Me.

Yes, I volunteered to judge, but to be honest I am pretty sure the scoring was unfair.

Now you might be saying to yourself but you were a judge, how could that be possible?

First, let me get the facts straight.

Five bands, four categories to score them in and twenty minutes to prove themselves worthy of winning what I am pretty sure was originally a soccer trophy.

The last part, undoubtedly my favorite was a great trip down memory lane, strolling through the locker-filled hallways to take my seat at the top of the auditorium.

Yes, it was a high school.

Who doesn’t love remembering the old days of heightened hormones and being hazed by the gym teacher?

What, just me?

I was also quite jealous when I realized how my old school auditorium was only one-eighth the size, and the audio and lighting equipment probably cost as much as my entire school.

As for the bands, I applaud their effort but there was really no competition at all. This was my biggest problem.

The band who took home the trophy was worthy of it, but that’s only because they’ve been playing together forever, even after they graduated. Not fair!

The emcees failed to even mention anything about the other bands, which in my opinion sets them up to fall.

My advice: never plug your upcoming shows while you’re playing a current gig, high school should mean high school and most importantly don’t feed your judges pizza from your school cafeteria.
