How to locate the perfect Christmas tree

“Waking up in the late hours of the night to sneak into a neighbors yard, one walks with care to the prize that rests ahead. A few swift whacks of an axe, then behold, this years Christmas tree. Although this might be a fun and illegal way of getting a tree, there are alternatives.”

Waking up in the late hours of the night to sneak into a neighbors yard, one walks with care to the prize that rests ahead. A few swift whacks of an axe, then behold, this years Christmas tree. Although this might be a fun and illegal way of getting a tree, there are alternatives. There are many decisions to make when getting a tree such as where to get it and whether it will be real or fake.

The first thing you must decide is whether or not you want to have a real tree or a fake tree. Each tree has its pros and cons. Nothing looks better than the original, real trees, and with the fresh scent of a pine forest in your living room it can’t be beat. But that is also a problem; it is like bringing part of the forest into your living room. A real tree can bring in unwanted bugs and an abundance of dead needles that seem to make their way through the whole house.

Fake trees are quick and easy, and will last for many years, but they take away from the true holiday experience. People can get the exact tree they want within minutes, and most of the trees are easy to install. Many trees even come pre-lit.

For all the real tree lovers there is a great tree picking experience next door in Cuyahoga County. People can ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad to Heritage Farm where you can choose the perfect tree. After the tree is picked out, the staff will bag, tag, and put the tree on the train. This trip is a little pricey, but worth it for the scenic train ride, picking the tree, and the convenience of having the tree brought back on the train.

No matter what kind of tree you get, or how you get it, it is a nice addition to any holiday scene.
