Zipline needs more hours

The University has announced plans to go green in the near future by providing only paperless bills. While this is a move in the right direction, slight changes need to be made concerning when this and other information can be accessed.

Imagine coming home from a long day of work. Something is quickly put together to eat, and afterwards you wash up for the night. Arising from bed you feel rested, ready to take on the day.

After another quick meal, you sit down to pay your bills.

First on your list is your tuition bill that promises to make you much more money in the future than you’re paying now. Logging on to Zipline you type in your ID and password, but to your surprise the Student Center button, and a few others are missing.

Suddenly your eye catches the reason, self service applications are not available until after noon on any given Sunday.

Seeing you have no time later in the day you put off paying your bill for another day and move on to the rest of your daily tasks.

This has been the fate of many students across the university; at the times most convenient for us the applications we are required to use are unavailable.

Likewise, the system creates many problems for those few of us who take early morning classes by choice, or simply because there is no other way.

While our day starts at 6:50 a.m., the service that tells us where are classes are doesn’t start operations until 7:30. That’s a whole 40 minutes after the class has begun.

Student satisfaction could be increased by simply making all days consistent. Special Sunday hours should be eliminated, the site should be open until at least 1 a.m. and resume not later than 6 a.m.
