The solo act Secondhand Serenade and band Red Jumpsuit Apparatus played to a packed house at E.J. Thomas Hall last night.

These bands rocked E.J. and didn’t disappoint their fans.

Vesely, also known as Second Hand Serenade, is a normal, laid-back and friendly guy.

His favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough and he has tattoos and his lip pierced.

While chatting Vesely up, he played the piano, which is one of the three instruments he mentioned he knew how to play, along with the bass and acoustic guitar.

He tried making me play piano, I gave that up, and he tried making me play the saxophone, and I gave that up too. But obviously, as you can see, I kept up with the piano, he said when asked about pressures to be in the music industry because of his families involvement in it.

There are a lot of reasons why I write my music, Vesely said, adding that there is always a muse involved. Honestly, it’s very good therapy.

Secondhand Serenade is named because of the audience being the ones to hear the songs secondhand as they are meant for the person they were written for.

I love being on tour, it’s one of my favorite things in the entire world, Vesely said.

He will continue to tour for four more days in the US and then head into the UK and Europe.

His plans for the future are to continue making and writing his own music and to tour as much as possible. He also noted that he was currently writing new material.

Midnight started off the show. Following, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus played. Their set, which included songs False Pretense, Guardian Angel and the much-anticipated and crowd requested Face Down were performed wonderfully.

Red Jumpsuit also covered a song by Blink 182, and admitted they didn’t even have a set playlist for this show.

If you missed out on the performance yesterday, you should find out where they are playing and check out one of their shows as they are one of the best live bands I have ever seen.

Secondhand Serenade then performed, which included both Vesely’s acoustic songs and songs that were accompanied by his band.

He started his set out with his song Your Call, which serenaded the crowd.

Vesely and his band played hit song Vulnerable, which obviously pleased the crowd.

He also played Why, Stranger, a cover of Coldplay’s Fix It, which he stated was one of his favorite songs to play live and encouraged the crowd to sing along to.

These songs were from his albums Awake and A Twist In My Story.

Overall, Secondhand Serenade and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus proved that they were both excellent live bands that go above and beyond to impress their fans with their vocal and instrumental talents.
