The team is motivated for Friday’s night game against Eastern Michigan because the Zips are coming off a loss from last Sunday in which they played The University of Cincinnati Bearcats.

The team lost 2-1 but played very competitively against the Bearcats all game.

We focused on our strengths and controlled the game against Cincinnati, Pfau said.

Britini Back scored the team lone goal while Erin Macdonald and Emily Hebbler scored for the Bearcats.

Friday night players to keep an eye out for on Eastern Michigan is Ashley Rodriguez and Carissa Wilson (both lead the team with three goals a piece). Other players to keep an eye out for are Paige Sheridan, Julie Kaim and Maggie Christensen all three players have two assists each.

Key players to watch out for on the Zips are Britini Back and Rachel Phillip who both lead the team with two goals each. Other key players to watch out for are Jordan Clark, Jordan Baranowski and Andrea Schweisthal.

Goaltenders Jeny Wolbert and Michelle Smith who split time are key players to watch. Keep an eye on the seniors because of there leadership of this Zips soccer team.

This senior class show that they want it and are showing it in games, Pfau said. They have never made a conference championship and are showing they want to.

The MAC conference is solid from top to bottom. The Zips are currently tenth in the conference with an overall record of 2-3-1. As of now, they are only three games behind Central Michigan who are first in the conference with a 5-3 record.

We can compete with all the teams in this conference, Pfau said.

The MAC standings from first to last are: Central Michigan (5-3), Eastern Michigan (4-2-2), Kent State (4-3), Miami, Ohio (4-3), Toledo (4-3-1), Northern Illinois (4-4), Western Michigan (3-3-1), Bowling Green (4-5), Ohio (3-4), Akron (2-3-1), Ball

State (2-5), and Buffalo (1-7).

The MAC is getting better, more competive in the MAC, Pfau said.

The team still has concerns going into the MAC, but one thing stands out more than any thing else.

Our mental sharpness of the game, we need to compete for ninety minutes mentally, Pfau said.

The Zips also take on Central Michigan on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Lee Jackson Field.
