Proper prep for finals week

“Finals week is fast approaching. The tendency for students to be stressed during this time is normal, but there are many steps you can take to minimize stress and maximize success. 1. Sleep. While it is tempting to stay up late and squeeze in that last bit of studying, research has shown that getting a good night’s rest (7-9 hours) is one of the best ways to ensure good performance on test day.”

Finals week is fast approaching. The tendency for students to be stressed during this time is normal, but there are many steps you can take to minimize stress and maximize success.

1. Sleep. While it is tempting to stay up late and squeeze in that last bit of studying, research has shown that getting a good night’s rest (7-9 hours) is one of the best ways to ensure good performance on test day. Sleep deprivation has been shown to decrease memory recall and reduce attention span. Studies indicate sleep deprived people perform on a variety of mental and physical tests as if they had a blood alcohol level of .8, which is the legal limit for drunk driving in the United States.
