UA organization Campus Focus changes meeting day: New Sunday time appeals to both graduates and current students

By: Alison  Stewart

The beginning of a new semester is always a great time to start looking around your school and seeing what types of organizations The University of Akron has to offer. One organization that students may sometimes overlook is Campus Focus.

Campus Focus is a student youth group held once a week at The Chapel, located on Fir Hill right next to campus.

Previously held on Thursday nights, Campus Focus has made a move this semester to Sunday nights at 7 p.m.

“When we switched to Sunday nights, we also opened up the service to people of all ages so that current students could stay a part of our ministry long after they graduated,” said Assistant College Pastor Kevin Poest.  “Our focus has always been and always will be college students, but now we get to keep them when they graduate.”

Christina Jindra shared her thoughts on why she goes to Campus Focus and what she thinks of its move to Sunday nights.

“I go to Campus Focus to be with God and to be in a community of encouraging, caring people,” Jindra said. “I’m okay with it moving to Sunday.  It is going to take some adjusting for all of us, but I think it will be better in the end.”

Campus Focus is an environment in which students can come to learn, praise and meet people who share their religious interests. Their tag line and ultimate goal is “Connecting People to God.”
