Zips first baseman Brandon White had the only RBI on Friday while centerfielder Drew Turocy went 4-4.

We did not take the chance to win on opportunities, Zips baseball head coach Pat Bangtson said.

Rockets first baseman Jim Vahalik had two RBI against the Zips, while shortstop Jared Hoying, third baseman Joe Corfman and left fielder Jason Edwards each tagged in one RBI a piece.

Kyle Shaw was credited with the win for the Rockets, pitching 6.2 innings with four strikeouts, one run and five hits in 22 at bats. Matt Suschak finished the pitching for the last 2.1 innings for the Rockets.

Alex Loftin was credited with the loss for the Zips as he pitching 8.2 innings with six strikeouts, five runs and 11 hits.

Alex pitched pretty well and gave us a chance to win the game and the Toledo pitcher (Shaw) did a good job for them, Bangtson said.

The Zips continued to struggle Saturday as they lost to the Rockets 13-4.

Probably the worst overall we played this weekend, we didn’t swing bats overall, and we struggled in all facets of the game, Bangtson said.

Zips right fielder Jake Plata had two RBI, while Turocy had one RBI.

Corfman had three RBI against the Zips. Vahalik and Hoying had two RBI while second baseman Tim Krofcheck, center fielder Chris Dudics, and right fielder Dan Sherwood had one RBI each.

Andrew Brown got the loss for the Zips pitching 6.2 innings with five strikeouts, nine runs and 11 hits in 32 at bats.

The Rockets Mike Hamann was credited with the win pitching seven innings, with three strikeouts, three runs, and six hits in 26 at bats. Matt Zahel pitched the final two innings.

The Zips lost on Easter day to finish the series against the Rockets 9-6.

We swung at bats better, we came alive, but Toledo did a good job when given the chance to extend the lead, Bangtson said.

Turocy had two RBI in the game while Plata, first baseman Brian Kordal, White, and third baseman Sam Trecaso had one RBI a piece.

The Zips’ Benjamin Danziger lost the game pitching 6.2 innings with three strikeouts, eight runs and seven hits in 24 at bats.

Lincoln Rassi was credited with the win for the Rockets pitching 5 innings with four strikeouts, one run and seven hits in 21 at bats.

The Zips are in second place in the MAC Eastern division trailing the Kent State Golden Flashes, who are 24-9.
