“They are our students, they are our future. We need to put them before ourselves,” Barry said.

Teachers have one of the most important jobs in the world in educating our future. Giving them hope that they can succeed and that school is a safe place is important.

The strength demonstrated by the teachers, students and community of Chardon is inspiring. Watching the Chardon High School students walk hand-in-hand with their parents into the doors of their school just days after the shootings was empowering. Students from neighboring schools also were there to show their support.

The community of Chardon was shaken but still stands strong, reminding us that, “Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart,” as quoted from “The Diary of Anne Frank.”
