Students react to presidential transition

June 23, 2014

The Buchtelite spoke with students from around The University of Akron’s campus about their hopes and wishes for the university. Students express their views as the shift from President Luis Proenza and new president Scott Scarborough occurs.

It would be great to have no surprise costs and to encourage people to take summer classes. It would be nice to see more students in summer. Dr. Proenza did a lot for the university. He was a good model for Scarborough to follow.

— Patrick Stallings

Seems like Dr. Proenza did a lot for the school, so I’m excited to see what Scarborough would bring to the table.

— Stacey Bridges

I’m glad he was picked. He was the most qualified and I am excited to see what he can do.

— Eric Olson

Helping the students to lower the prices of books. I don’t think that is taken into consideration to much for us as students.

— Samantha Boern

I hope the new president brings life to The University of Akron.

— Charles Combest

I hope he helps the university improve and realize its academic potential.
