I am a freshman at UA and today read your article concerning the cessation of scholarship refunds here at The University of Akron, and I completely agreed with your opinion of why the policy is against the interests of the student body. I, for one, know that if I were offered a scholarship for performance either in the classroom or out in the community, and then found out that I wouldn’t see any of it past what was needed for my bill, I would feel cheated in the highest sense of trickery. It’s the equivalent almost of me telling the university that I would pay them a bill of $25,000 and then said I’d only cough up $20,000. If that were the case, I’d quickly find myself without a place here at UA, but when it’s the other way around, it’s business as usual.
