On Wednesday, April 8, The University of Akron Residence Hall Program Board (RHPB) is hosting an open mic night for students to come and show off their talents. This event is free and open to all students.
The upcoming open mic night is a student run event where UA students can show off their skills, whether thats singing, dancing, playing an instrument, telling jokes, etc.
Students interested in participating need to sign up through QR codes posted on flyers around campus or through this link on the RHPB Instagram in order to be able to perform.
“We always keep students up to date on events through our Instagram, we even currently have links in our bio for students to shadow RHPB and the signup sheet for the organization starts the first week of March,” Maxeene Woodside, President of RHPB, said.
Woodside, who has been in the program since her freshman year, views the program as an extremely positive and moving experience in her life.
“RHPB is a good way to expand your leadership experience, it’s really fun to be hands on with all of our shows and it gives students a meaningful purpose to be on campus,” she said.
RHPB (Residence Hall Program Board) is the sole programing board for all residents who live on the university’s campus. Every semester they plan up to five or six free events for students on campus to enjoy. These events include everything from comedians, poets, casino nights, open mic nights and more, and can sometimes pull crowds of over 500 people, depending on the event.
