There is still time to see the 90th Juried Student Exhibition at the Emily Davis Gallery in the Myers School of Art. The exhibition remains free and open to the public through Feb. 27 during the gallery’s open hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The exhibition features student artwork in a variety of mediums including ceramics, photography, graphic design, sculpture, and printmaking. More than 200 works were submitted to the exhibition, which was juried by Jenny Gerow, Chief Curator of the Akron Art Museum.

In a juried show, the juror or jurors review all the submissions and select those that will have the opportunity to appear. This gives students an experience like what they will find in professional art settings. “Our students are getting a fresh response to their work,” Director of University Galleries, Arnold Tunstall said.

“The exhibition serves not only as an opportunity for student artists to learn but also as a way for the university community to become familiar with their artistic endeavors,” he said.

Students have various opportunities to showcase their work throughout their education, but this one is unique.

“It is their only opportunity to show as a group in the main gallery… It is also an opportunity for our campus community, their peers, their parents, you know, the rest of the city to come in and see the excellence and sort of vibe of what is going on in the School of Art,” Tunstall said.
