The Undergraduate Student Government invites students to learn from local and on-campus women leaders at the Women’s Empowerment Summit, in Student Union Room 312, on March 16 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The summit starts with an all-women student panel. Each panelist represents a student organization including Ignite, the Society of Women Engineers, Women in Business, Women in Psychology, and the Association for Women Geoscientists.

The event will then feature a discussion and forum with women leaders in the Akron community, as well as a student presentation on women, gender, and politics.

“I find that it’s really important for networking, and it’s really important to see women who are where you want to see yourself later in your career,” Lexxe Parsons, the USG deputy director of LGBTQ+ and gender equity, said.

Although the event focuses on women, anyone interested is welcome to attend, regardless of gender.

“I do consider it women empowering, but not women only,” Parsons said.

Light desserts and refreshments will be available for all attendees. Students interested in attending should register by March 11 at 11:59 p.m.
