The University of Akron held its Study Abroad Fair on Wednesday to help students decide where, when, and how they would like to take their studies to new countries.
The fair was held in the Student Union Ballroom A between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Some of the booths showed opportunities teaching English in China, traveling to the beautiful Sorrento, Italy to intern for local companies, and studying in Sant’Anna Institute, an Italian university affiliated with UA.
Students who aren’t looking to travel long distances can sign up for spring break trips which include volunteering at schools in Jamaica and Haiti.
For more overall information, you can go through companies like IES or CIS Abroad. These companies will help you get set up with a foreign school that matches up with your major and specific classes you’re looking to take. They’ve helped over 10 thousand students, and they can help you too.
If you missed the fair — don’t worry. All of this information and more is available at the study abroad office. It’s located on the third floor of Simmons Hall across from the College of Arts and Science. Walk in to talk to someone or reach out to director David Black or graduate assistant student Jennifer Dixon, whose information can be found here: uakron.edu/studyabroad. These two have all the information you will need to know when deciding to study abroad, or if you’re looking to go abroad again.
The main goal for Akron’s study abroad society is to get the word out. Studying abroad can not only provide students with the amazing experience of a new culture, but it’s also a great resume and GPA booster. Companies are always looking for employees who know and experienced work and life in another place — so don’t hesitate to look into studying abroad today.
