Sympson's weekly view

Written by: Matt Sympson

It was a disappointing weekend for the Zips football team who fell to Florida International University. The loss resulted them to drop to a 0-2 record so far this season.

It’s heartbreaking to see a team give 110% out on the field, force sudden death, and come up on the short end. Anticipation is mounting for students to be back in the stands this weekend, rooting for the Zips when they face Morgan State and hopefully get their first victory.

The volleyball team’s match-up on Friday was also thrilling to watch. It was disappointing to see them lose the first two sets, but it was awesome to see them rebound and win three straight sets after that to win the match-up.

It was also great to see our women’s soccer team get a pair of victories over the weekend, winning against Cleveland State on Friday and Canisius on Saturday.

I can’t wait to watch the football game on Saturday and I encourage all students to take a break from studying and come out and support our football team.

I love ya, Akron! Go Zips!
