Saturday night the House of Blues hosted Katy Perry for a sold out concert.
The 24-year-old singer did not disappoint her fans; she appeared in black leather and leopard shortly after 9 p.m.
Shortly after the beginning of the show Perry pulled a few fans dressed as bananas up on stage after she spotted them in the crowd. She proceeded to dance the hokey pokey with them before segwaying into her second single Hot n’ Cold.
Perry bounced her way across the stage running and jumping up and down during the 60 minute set.
In between songs, Perry told stories to the crowd. One person screamed during her story and she quickly interjected, Shut up, I’m telling a story.
At one point she pointed to a couple who came to the show, after asking how long they had been together she had simple advice for the guy.
Don’t break her heart, she will probably write a song about you called you’re so gay, she said before singing her song with the same title.
Perry showed the crowd she was more than just a singer as she picked up a guitar for numerous songs throughout the set.
Perry quickly picked up the energy she had at the beginning of the show by throwing inflatable strawberries at the crowd. She even ventured to cover Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now which was received warmly by the crowd.
The mainly college aged crowd cheered and sang along with Perry.
Is anyone here in college? she asked the crowd. Congratulations, you made it. I never did. She used that point to lead into Weekend in Vegas saying that she heard freshman year was like a weekend in Las Vegas.
She chose to close the show with her hit I Kissed A Girl as she flung herself, with the help of a bodyguard, into the crowd at the end of the song.
The eager concert goers were left chanting for Perry’s name as the house lights came on. However, no one seemed disappointed as they flooded the merchandise stands on their way out.
