The three time Tony award winner Avenue Q will be on campus from April 6 through April 8 for three shows.
The show is based on the story of Princeton, a college graduate who moves to NYC with dreams bigger than his bank account. His apartment is located on Avenue Q, where everyone is looking for a decent job, stable relationship and purpose. Princeton eventually learns to embrace the roller coaster ways of life and comes to the conclusion that the real world just might not be so bad after all.
This is a storyline that might not be not be too far off for some students.
Avenue Q has been hailed by numerous notable newspapers, including the New York Times that called it a breakthrough musical of a very different stripe. Savvy, sassy and delicious! Entertainment Weekly said it is one of the funniest shows you’re ever likely to see!
Its diverse cast is bound to ensure that everyone leaves relating to at least one character. With songs titled It Sucks To Be Me, The Internet is for Porn and Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist, patrons are almost guaranteed to walk away laughing.
Avenue Q opened off-Broadway in March 2003 and was then extended four times; Avenue Q played its final Broadway show on Sept. 13, 2009.
