Softball's Hansen receives MAC East Co-Player of the Week honors

University of Akron senior softball player Krista Hansen received the Mid-American Conference East Division Co-Player of the Week Award for the first time in her career.

She was awarded for period ending March 21.

Hansen shared the honor with Miami University’s Daniella Thomas.

During the week, Hansen led the team with 11 hits at the Rebel Spring Games and boasted .407 batting average during the games.

This season, Hansen is fourth on the team with a batting average of .339.

Her six RBI is also fourth best on the Zips.

The Zips will play their first home game Thursday when the welcome Youngstown State University to Lee Jackson Field.

Following the home opener, UA will play in their final spring tournament this weekend playing in the Winthrop Eagle Bash.
