” Catcher and first baseman Kurt Davidson received one last honor of his college baseball career, First Team All MAC. Davidson was only one of two unanimous selections to fill the Designated Hitters spot in the roster. This was something that did not surprise either Head coach Pat Bangtson or Davidson.”

Catcher and first baseman Kurt Davidson received one last honor of his college baseball career, First Team All MAC.
Davidson was only one of two unanimous selections to fill the Designated Hitters spot in the roster.
A lot of credit goes to what he has accomplished over the past four years and the respect he got around the league, Bangtson said of his former player.
According to Bangtson, the thing that set Davidson apart from the rest was his discipline.
He has really good plate discipline and the fact everybody knew how good he was he had to face tough pitching every time out, he said.
Davidson believes his previous years accomplishments are part of what has set him apart.
Teams kind of focused on me and Doug (McNulty), the senior said. He also noted how teams began pitching to him differently and he would often times face new pitcher.
While there was only one member of the team who had a better batting average than Davidson, the four year starter finished the season with a batting average of .322 in 49 games. He also led the team with his slugging percentage of .588 and on-base percentage of .424.
One thing for sure is the 6-foot-3 senior will go down in University of Akron History as one of the most profiled hitters to play at Lee Jackson Field.
