The University of Akron baseball team has completed their inter-squad Fall World Series.

On Tuesday, the Gold team extended their lead by beating their counterparts 7-1.

Many of the players that the Zips will rely on in the spring are getting work in now. Pat Dyer, who started for Akron last season, was on the mound for the Blue team Wednesday. He pitched six complete innings. However, he gave up five earned runs during that time.

Matt LaRocca, a redshirt junior from Stony Brook, N.Y. came through in game four of the series during the bottom of the first. With men on second and third, LaRocca drove in Devan Ahart, another Zip who will have to play a big role in the upcoming season, and then Joey Havrilak brought in Dom Iero during the next at bat.

Jon Pusateri, who made 11 starts for the Zips last season, had a strong showing Tuesday. He allowed just one run with four hits through six innings.

This series concluded the Zips’ fall practices. They now will head indoors to prepare for their regular season that will start in February.
