According to Kent police, the assault occurred sometime after 2 a.m. Sunday Nov. 14. They ran into each other as Kernich and his friend were walking along East Main Street, and Kelly and Baker were in a car leaving a nearby parking lot.

When the car almost hit Kernich and his friend, Kelly, Baker and their friend pulled into a nearby driveway and got out and attacked Kernich and his friend.

According to UA spokeswomen Laura Massie, both men were enrolled for classes this semester, but not for spring.

If the accused students are released from bond, they would be subject to the appropriate university disciplinary process, Massie said.

Correction: Because of an error, the original story in print included the incorrect date of Dec. 14. It has been changed to the correct date of Nov. 14.
