Halloween is coming up, and if you’re looking for a party with great contests, food and prizes, look no further than the Boo at the Roo, which will be held next Thursday Oct. 29 at 9:09 p.m. as part of the E.J. Thomas Stage Door series. The cost is $5 per person.

Over the past two years, Boo at the Roo has been a hugely popular event for UA students with over 600 attends each year.

Now in its third year, this event is sure to be better than ever and is an event that is highly anticipated by students.

Boo at the Roo is my new favorite Halloween tradition. I go every year without question, senior Michael Super said.

Boo at the Roo has been such a success in the past because it gives students a variety of ways to take part in Halloween festivities.

This year some of the highlights include free tarot card readings, food and a cash bar for all attendees to enjoy.

For the second year in a row, DJ Sparky B will be providing the music and taking requests as E.J. Thomas Hall is transformed into a Halloween-themed celebration. Students will even get the opportunity to dance on stage.

Last year it was like a giant campus-wide dance party. I’m stoked to go back next Thursday, sophomore Susan Worsowicz said.

Costumes are strongly encouraged but not mandatory.

There will be a contest for the best costumes of the night.

The costumes in competition will be rated by a panel of 10 judges and the winners will receive some fantastic prizes.

The top prizes include a digital camera for the most original costume and a $300 Best Buy gift card for the people’s choice costume.

The grand prize for the best overall costume is a set of Spring Break Airline Tickets. Gift cards will also be given to the runner-ups of the contest.

Some of the more creative entries in past Boo at the Roo costume contests have been a group of Lego people, a student dressed as Waldo from the Where’s Waldo book series and a set of the red and blue Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots.

So get out your dancing shoes and start creating your costume for Boo at the Roo next Thursday from 9:09 p.m. – 11:55 p.m.

You can pick up tickets for $5 at E.J. Thomas or the Student Union box office with a valid UA student ID card. There is a limit of two tickets per person.
